On Tuesday 30th November 2021, FESE organised a webinar in the context of the inaugural European Retirement Week. The goal of European Retirement Week is to provide a platform for a wide range of stakeholders to debate the future of pensions in Europe and to raise citizens’ awareness of the need to save and invest for retirement.
Following a launch event with Commissioner Mairead McGuinness, the week featured a range of presentations and panel discussions organised individually by the eleven participating associations. Each addressed Europe’s retirement savings challenge and explore solutions to drive and deliver value for money for European pension savers.
As one of those founding associations, FESE’s webinar focused on market structure and its links to capital markets and pension returns. Discussions centred on the Commission retail investment strategy and the MiFIR review proposal, encompassing such topics as Payment for Order Flow and its consequences for best execution and transparency.
The full recording of the event is available below.
Earlier in the week, FESE Director General, Rainer Riess, delivered his take on how to address the issue of empowering citizens in the market in order to deliver good returns for pension savers.
